To SWMS Members:

Hello all, I have a few bits of news and updates I want to share:

  • RACING

    • If you were fortunate to be racing with SWMS's members at Motorland Fest Round 4 in June, the weekend was a resounding success! Suika Circuit split the weekend, with Super Laps dedicated scheduling on Saturday and Super Cup road racing dedicated scheduling on Sunday. SWMS was happy to participate in the Sunday run groups and there was an excellent car count. To me, it was the first weekend where the SWMS group of members and cars really felt at home within the new Suika Circuit scheduling, I really enjoyed the racing!

    • Many SWMS members seem to appreciate the single day of racing, especially in the hot summer months. I expect this single day, Sunday road race format to continue.

    • A few miss the full two day schedule from years prior. There is hope if you are interested in making a weekend out of racing. Friday is test and tune (sign up on MSR when you sign up for Super Cup), and technically one could run their race car in Super Laps on Saturday (sign up on MSR) and then full road racing on Sunday (sign up on MSR). I count a possible 3 days of seat time, if that is what you are looking for! For me, the only trick is how to get a Super Lap car AND a Super Cup car to the track with one truck...future goals.

  • GENERAL CLUB UPDATES

    • I've had a few questions about the monthly SWMS board and general membership meeting. We absolutely still hold our monthly meeting and I've updated the SWMS website with the full schedule. https://www.swms.org/club-information.

    • Your board of directors is busy working with subject matter experts within our membership and volunteers to update our policies and procedures to best match our current operations. Updates will be periodically made at our website as each new procedure is issued.

    • SWMS is going to try its best to plan a late summer/early fall social drive out (Gilman Tunnels or similar), more details as we continue to plan.

  • MEMBER CHIT AND CHAT

    • Many SWMS members are active with RMVR and SVRA. As such, we are hearing that vintage and region racing across the nation are planning a few updates. These are all things you might expect at other tracks and things which SWMS will likely need to consider in the coming year or two:

      • SFI fire suppression systems are becoming increasingly mandatory. Fire safety is a good thing, and a few members have recent experience buying and installing such a system. Let us know if you have questions, contact@swms.org.

      • SNELL 2025 helmet are soon available, which means that helmet updates and inspections are likely. SWMS will have updates on SWMS acceptable SNELL helmet date codes at the end of the FY25 season.

      • In-car cameras are increasingly mandatory to capture 100% of on track action. This helps should there be any contact or such, and maybe also something SWMS will need to consider.

  • NEXT RACE

Together with all of us at the SWMS Board, I hope to see you at an upcoming Suika Circuit event.
