Hi All,
Suika Circuit and University Mazda have worked hard to make another fantastic Mazda Mayhem season finale to New Mexico's 2025 road race season! Road racing is Sunday, 11/2 and generous awards have been set up for those racing in Spec Miata and Spec RX-7.
I just checked and the entry list on Sunday is great, with our usual favorites in all classes. The turn out is already ramping up and so if you are thinking about running your car one last time before winter (and the inevitable 'garage time: work on race cars' part of the year), we encourage you sign up. It's going to be fun day of racing!
In parallel, the SWMS Board has been busy planning for the 2026 season with Suika Circuit. The dedicated team at Suika is hard at work drafting scheduling for next year. At the same time, the SWMS Board is nearly finished with our 2026 rules and regulations, where we are finding a good balance between ease of access to road racing and the ever changing world of safety equipment (new SNELL helmets, fire systems, you name it). SWMS plans to broadcast a nice preview of small safety updates (nothing wild for 2026) and details on license renewals in December.
Finally, our club at SWMS is fortunate to have a great partnership with Suika Circuit and together both organizations are working hard to support road racing right here in New Mexico. Suika Circuit is planning to hold a 'town hall' sort of evening event, likely in December, to best hear inputs and suggestions for the 2026 road race season. The final dates are being worked on and we'll have more details soon. In the meantime, feel free to think about what makes racing in New Mexico fun and what could be done to make it even more popular.
I have my Contemporary Class SAAB race car all ready (it's back!) for the Mazda Mayhem season finale next weekend and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone, both on-track and in the paddock.

SWMS President
