Hello Racers! Southwest Motorsports is announcing the 2021 schedule (see below).
The schedule includes a technical inspection day, April 24, and six full weekends at Sandia Raceway. Sandia Raceway is open and at this point is utilizing Covid precautions similar to last year. The situation is still fluid but this year seems to be rapidly going in the less worrisome direction and SWMS's first race/school weekend doesn't start till late May. Our schedule has been purposefully set to avoid other regional events, so come on out with SWMS!
If you weren't able to come out last year SWMS updated many practices including touchless scoring using Speedhive, the High Performance Driving School now utilizes lead/follow track sessions and ZOOM classroom time and Karts are on the schedule both Saturday and Sunday. The SWMS.org website has been totally updated and we're really encouraging racers to utilize MotorsportReg to minimize any interactions at the gate. For all the volunteers we even overhauled the track truck-again! SWMS event coordinators will update details as we get closer to tech day and each race weekend.
The winter series has one event left on March 14. The winter series had a record turnout for their February event, 23 cars, 8 Karts, and 2 High Performance Drivers. If interested contact Mike Travers at michaeltravers2@msn.com.
